Fish! Difference

Fish! Difference at Rochester Toyota in Rochester MN

When documentary filmmaker John Christensen was shopping on the streets of Seattle, little was he expecting to hear cheering from a local fish market. When he arrived at World Famous Pike Place, he was surprised to see fishmongers tossing fish to each other, even inviting customers to join in on the fun. The positive energy was electric. The fishmongers at World Famous Pike place greeted strangers like old friends. In addition when it came to focusing on customers, the fishmongers gave attention to each and every customer, as if they were the only two people in world. despite all the energetic noise. John Christenson came back to the market with his flim crew, spending several days with the fishmongers. John and his crew had learned when employees come together and empower one another; the results resonate within the community. Since then, John has co-written the book Fish! Tales, which has been used in schools, organizations and businesses worldwide (our own story was even included in the book!). More than one million copies have been sold, bringing more energy and passion to people within their work.

Since opening the doors in 1999, Rochester Motor Cars has continued with the passion of the Fish! Philosophy. Now with six locations-Rochester Toyota, Rochester Mazda, Rochester Ford, Rochester Car Clearance Center, Collision Center and Rochester Quick Lane, our employees have continued to live up to the Fish! Philosophy- serving customers to the best of their ability. Following the four simple practices John Christensen identified about the Fish! Philosophy in the fish market, our employees here at Rochester Motors Cars uses those practices to improve teamwork, customer service, employee engagement, retention, recognition and leadership.

Be There

To be emotionally present for people and coworkers. The powerful message of respect improves communication and strengthens relationships. Treat every customer as if they were a friend.

Play

Tap into your natural way of being creative, enthusiatic and having fun. Don't allow your work to be boring, you'll get nothing accomplished. Instead think of creative ways to make your work enjoyable and get your co-workers involved!

Make their Day

Find simple ways to serve or delight people in a meaningful, memorable way. Within our six locations at Rochester Motor Cars, we strived to make sure our customers are happy, whether it would be a new car or service.

Choose your Attitude

Take responsibility to what life throws at you. When a situation occurs, we must find the way to fix the problem. Look for the best in situations and circumstances.

As the Fish! Philosophy states,

"When coworkers make a commitment to be there for each other, trust grows and teamwork improves. When they make each other's day with simple gestures of recognition and thanks, people feel valued."

In similarity to creating a strong solid foundation for a home, here at Rochester Toyota, we are committed to building a strong foundation with our co-workers, and most importantly our customers.
